Turkish shipyard Ares Yachts has revealed the first interior renderings of its latest superyacht project, Spitfire, a 51-meter vessel developed in collaboration with Bannenberg & Rowell Design and Lateral Naval Architects. The yacht, inspired by the iconic Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft, is set to combine speed, luxury, and innovative design.
A Fusion of Performance and Elegance
Spitfire is based on the fast-displacement hull dynamics of Ares Yachts’ 150 Bold offshore patrol vessel, known for its efficiency and stability. The yacht features a rounded bow and a low-profile superstructure, accented by dark glass panels that enhance its sleek, modern look.
“This platform is built on three fundamental principles: speed, lightweight construction, and iconic proportions,” said Kerim Kalafatoğlu, chairman of Ares Yachts. “By combining a hull with offshore pedigree and the specifications of a superyacht, we are opening up new possibilities in design and performance.”
Interior Design and Features
Bannenberg & Rowell’s interior design for Spitfire emphasizes flexibility and contemporary luxury, using a palette inspired by military and naval camouflage. Key materials include punched metal surfaces, leather, and tinted glass, creating a distinctive and sophisticated atmosphere.

The yacht will offer:
- Five cabins, including a full-beam owner’s suite with 270-degree views.
- A private forward cockpit featuring a Jacuzzi and outdoor movie theater.
- A versatile main deck, with sliding glass walls that convert the dining and lounge areas into an open-air space.
- An upper deck sunroof, allowing the interior lounge to seamlessly connect with the bar, grill, and sun loungers.
“We have designed a layout that moves away from traditional yacht interiors,” said Dickie Bannenberg of Bannenberg & Rowell. “Instead of the usual saloons and lounges, we’ve created dynamic spaces such as ‘scramble areas’ and ‘bosses’ quarters,’ making the yacht feel unique and exciting.”
Hybrid Propulsion and Performance
Spitfire will be equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system, allowing for a range of operational modes. The yacht can cruise on electric power alone for up to one hour, with an optional extended battery package enabling up to 11 hours of silent operation.
The yacht’s performance specifications include:
- Maximum speed: 22 knots
- Cruising range: 2,200 nautical miles (extendable to 3,500 nautical miles with additional tankage)
With construction set to begin in 2025, Spitfire represents Ares Yachts’ continued expansion into the luxury superyacht sector, following its success in the military and commercial shipbuilding industry.
